power outage

What an odd evening. Around 7ish, we sat down to watch Stargate. I was at my computer playing a game at the same time, and all of a sudden, the power went out! For the next 30 minutes or so, the power faded in and out. I could tell because not only was our TV turning on and off, but the purple lights in our office were flickering on and off. Then I went and stood in the window and saw that everyone’s lights were doing the same flickery thing. Finally, it went off and stayed off. We found a lighter and lit some candles. After a while of standing in the windows watching people and lights, we moved the candles to the bedroom and laid in bed and talked and giggled until 9ish when it came back on.

I had no idea why, but I called my mom with the one phone that didn’t need to be plugged in, and it wasn’t affecting her there.

Luckily, the only thing that got hurt was our router, which is apparently really old... So we need a new one - the internet is plugged in temporarily through the modem right now.

I finally got on the web and found out the story:

KATU 2 - Over 5,500 people effected in Vancouver power outage

Children playing near a transformer may be to blame for a power outage Monday night in Vancouver.

More than 5,500 people were affected including those near Evergreen High School.

It happened around 7 p.m. Power was restored just after 9 p.m.

So yeah, it made for an odd evening!
