zempt
For the last month or so, I’ve been testing out Zempt, "multi-platform posting for Movable Type." Its a desktop client that is made especially with MT in mind. I saw that Adam talked about it on his blog today, and so I thought I’d add my support. His entry explains more about the ideas behind zempt and where its gonna go in development next, and talks about some of the very advantages that are why I have been using it - the ability to save entries and easy formatting w/o it getting in the way of hand coding the them. The post options are great, too, as you can select multiple categories inside of zempt rather than saving the entry and adding them as a second step.
Some of the features in the next version entice me even more - especially the ability to edit existing posts from the zempt interface. And a lot of people will appreciate the spell check option that’s coming.
I give it two thumbs up!

I have been following the development of SharpMT, another desktop client for MT.
They look like almost the same project approached from different angles. SharpMT already has multiple categories, trackback, publishing modes, some wysiwyg, etc. It was developed by a guy learning C# and has come a long way in just one week.
Its currently my desktop editor of choice. Give it a look! With a little support, spellchecking will be added.

I can’t get it to access my MT. I’ve tried adding mt/mt.cgi and .xml to the end of my domain and it’s not working.

Which one are you using, Mandie? if you are trying to use Zempt and need something for the XML-RPC endpoint box, try this:
http://YOURDOMAIN.com/mt/mt-xmlrpc.cgi
or whatever directory your mt.cgi file is in.
