bmr
A neato formula I found within FitDay.com:
Basal Metabolic Rate (No Activity):
Women: 655 + [4.36 x Weight (lbs)] + [4.32 x Height (inches)] - (4.7 x age) = BMR
Men: 66 + [6.22 x Weight (lbs)] + [12.7 x Height (inches)] - (6.8 x age) = BMR
To Determine Total Calories, multiply BMR by the following:
- 1.3 - Lightly active
- 1.4 - Exercise 3 to 4 times a week
- 1.6 - Exercise more than 4 times a week
- 1.8 - Exercise 6 to 7 times a week for more than 1 hour each
Would you believe that I am such a newbie in learning health stuff that I thought all of the calories that were burned had to do with activity. :giggle: I am really happy with the fitday link that I previously mentioned - it lets me see that even little activities burn calories, like food preparation and walking up the stairs. So for the last three days that I’ve been actively tracking, I’ve burned more calories than I’ve consumed Even with a McDonals meal in there woo hoo for me
Comments
I just found this BMR calculator (because I’m lazy!)

Thanks for the fitday thing - I’ve since signed up with them. I’ve been thinking about eating more healthy and exercising a bit and LOVE all their nutritional information, stats on activities, customizable goals, and even a journal. This is the ultimate weight loss tool!
btw if you’re interested you can find my journal there at http://www.fitday.com/WebFit/PublicJournals.html?Owner=cherrygoddess
