matthew in custody
Matthew is now in police custody; how they found him, I’m not sure, but I’d guess that two teenage boys hitchhiking with a surfboard are fairly obvious once a police report was out for them. Mom reported him as a runaway, and it wasn’t too long until she got a call back.
He’s two hours south of Sacramento, and the police are putting the boys in a safe house until mom or dad can drive to get him. Leonard says that its not like they will be under guard, so they could run away again, but hopefully not...
A big giant thanks to Reb and everyone who posted links to searching sites. It kept me searching instead of sitting here with nothing I could do to help, and that was good.

Aww, I’m sorry. Somehow I guess I slept through all of this or something. Sorry I wasn’t there for you.
I can definitely sympathize. My sister ran away from home too. She hitchhiked from Arizona to Wisconsin. Scared the bejeebies out of me and my mom.
I hope everything works out alright. Let me know if I can help at all.
{{{hugs}}}

if anyone talks to him, please let him know about Safe Place—http://www.safeplaceservices.org/ anywhere there is a sign, he can go and get help.
(sometimes, like here in P'cola, taxicabs are considered safe places)
when you’re 15, you think you know a lot, and life is really sucky - but please let him know that even if he chooses to runaway again, that there is help if he needs it.
thinking good thoughts for you and your family

Thank goodness! And I agree with Zalary - Life is rough when you’re 15; it’s good to have someone to talk to.

Sorry I missed out on this saga - I’ve been so self-absorbed lately it’s not even funny. I’m glad everything has worked out for the better - or at least that he was found.
Thanks to zalary for posting that safe place info - I hadn’t heard of it before.
