mold
The most feared thing for me is to open up something in the fridge and find mold. I’m just so grossed out, knowing its been in there. Even just the littlest bit makes me stomach turn. One time when I was in college, I pulled a loaf of bread down from the top cupboard, and it was growing, and it grossed me out so much that I had to jump away from the bread and lay in bed for a long time before I got the courage up to get a bag to put it in and run it to the trash chute.
I thought I’d gotten considerably better about this kind of stuff. I mean I’m more aware of what’s in my fridge than I was in college, obviously, so that’s a plus... but I’ve reacted better about it in the last few years.
I went to find something for lunch, and thought I’d start getting stuff together for our dinner tonight with my family. I’m bringing the toppings for baked potatoes and juice. So I opened the sour cream to see how much was left, and it was green around the edges. Ack! I didn’t expect that at all. So then I went on a wild throwing away spree, and by the time I was done, my stomach had just turned over and over. I thought that I was getting over this odd fear, but today proved me wrong!
I’m such a dork.

Mold grosses me out as well. I’ve been known to throw away good tupperware because I won’t use it if mold is on the food!

You are not a dork. stop talking that way before your face get’s stuck like that. seriously, mold is a scavenger like pigs & sucker fish. you OTOH are way up high on the food chain & naturally inclinded to better munches. obviously. be good.

Mold is just nasty. The smell of it makes me ill too. My fridge gets so bad sometimes that my Hubby cleans it out for me. I refuse to even do it. LOL! So, you aren’t the only one.

Same as me. I cannot stand it. I usually feel the need to dress into a full-body suit with rubber gloves and a face mask to deal with nasties that may grow in the refrigerator. And even then it’s not enough.
Thanks to my forgetful man, I’ve had to find out the hard way that mold grows on old tea bags that have been left in the teapot too long.
So nasty, let me tell you.

I agree, you’re not a dork. It is gross! I usually leave the fridge-cleaning for A even though she doesn’t like it either, but it’s probably my turn next time. Fortunately we’re doing pretty well keeping it clean for now.

I can smell mold a mile away. Or so it seems sometimes. There’s one restaurant here in Springfield I refuse to eat in because I can smell mold there.
