I just have to show off the newest David Raynes plugin, PingedURLs. (MT Plugin Directory: PingedURL) It adds a feature where you can grab the info of the outgoing pings. Instead of just listing the Pings sent like I was doing before, now I can show a link, title, and excerpt.

I love this plugin, but it’s not giving me the information from the ping I just sent here. You’re showing my information in your trackbacks section, but my outgoing ping information shows up as your comments category in the plugin directory. I guess it could be because I linked the plugin directory and you have automatic trackback to that category?
I’m also noticing that I only get the ping URL just like it was before I installed the plugin when I’m pinging categories such as The Red Kitchen guest submissions category and for some of my memes.

Okay, I installed it and have it working using your code, but in front of the " when the quotes begin I get a weird character (a ? in my individual archives and a  in my trackback template). Did you see this happen? (Btw, a post to see it at work is here.)

Never mind! I had copied your code and the quotes marks were too fancy for it to work. I replaced them and now it works just fine!

Yep, you must have auto-discovery on because you linked the plugin directory, and it has the category "comments" as its index page—like described in my tutorial at scriptygoddess MT hacks: Index page Trackback Autodiscovery. theredkitchen is set up the same way, so that when someone pings the guest category with a recipe, its pinging the category, not a specific post. I think that Christine does the same for this-or-that. So it doesn’t have any more info that it can get with a category-ping like it does for a post-ping.
So the text that you got from the plugin directory is actually the category description for the "comments" category. If you had actually gone into the PingedURL post and gotten the URL from that page, it would have given you the information about that post instead of just the main info.

Kristine, thanks for the quick response. That’s what I was thinking after I’d posted, so it’s nice to see that I actually have learned something while I’ve been playing with MT.
