Safeway.com
The news of the morning.... Safeway.com will now be delivering groceries to our area. For only 9.95 per delivery, you can shop from the convenience of your own home, and have it brought right to your door.
I personally think this could be worth it. Not just for the fact that I don’t drive, but because you could take the time to pick things out in an orderly fashion from your computer screen, where you’d have access to cookbooks and your cupboards to see what you already had. Plus, you’d still be able to use your Safeway card and save some money that way.
I don’t know if I’ll use it right away, but I sure will be thinking about it. I hope it is a success in our area so we have the option to use it!!
Has anybody used online shopping services like this before? I know the main ones that were nation-wide weren’t so successful, but they are anticipating that because this is just a part of what Safeway’s role in the area is, it won’t have to rely on online shopping for all of its income. Smart thinking!!

kristine-love, we have grocerygateway.com available here and we have used them a few times. our experience was really great and the online shopping was easier and faster than actually going to the grocery store (and no headache when i was done) the only drawback that i can really think of is that they don’t always have the things i want (sometimes we go shop at different stores because they carry a particular thing - like microwave jambalaya - yum) but that isn’t even a big thing.
I definitely recommend trying them out - if nothing else just to say you did
(note to self: start shopping at grocerygateway again - heehee)

That is pretty cool! I had free Safeway delivery growing up though. My dad was a manager at our local Safeway store before it got bought out by a company called Homeland! Yep, I was spoiled...

I’ve done online shopping but i’ve never actually hit the "place order" button. I guess I’m just so nervous... I haven’t checked safeway.com yet, but peapod.com delivers to me (Giant/Tom Thumb/Randalls)... they don’t seem to have a whole lot of stuff I buy though

I have lived in Phoenix, Az, and Seattle, Wa. I now in Boca Raton, Fl. and have heard rumors that Safeway is buying Publix, Hooray for you and me. I hope this rumor is true, I used to like Publx a lot but not anymore since I moved back here. The Publix in Hidden Valley in Boca is awful, the people who work there are rude and hardly speak english. The attitude they have is terrible. I loved Safeway because the employees were very helpful, curteous, friendly and good.
I hope you turn Publix around. It needs to be cleaned out and get better employees there and teach them how to treat the customer.. Another thing since your taking over can you stock the stores w/your Safeway Select chocolate candies and cookies their simply the best.
Thank you for your time.

I would just like to say that I think the online shopping is the best thing that could happen to safeway. I think it will go along ways. I can’t wait until it is at every safeway store. As an employee, and investor and shopper, I am very excited.
I have seen safeway grow in just the short time I have been there and couldn’t be happier with its success! Keep up the good work!!!

HEY HELENE YOUR IN SOUTH FLORIDA. HALF THE PEOPLE SPEAK A DIFFERENT LANGUAGE, BUT YOUR IN BOCA GUESS YOUR RICH. WELCOME TO THE REAL SOUTH FLORIDA. YOU THINK SAFEWAY WOULD PAY ENOUGH TO ATTRACT WELL SPOKEN COLLEGE GRADS IN THAT JOB MARKET. COMMON SENSE SAYS NO GENIUS.

Im a driver for sw.com in calif. I like the job alot , interacting with all the customers etc... However, working for safeway has introduced me to the down side of being employed by a big corp and why unions have flourished. So far they have flat out lied obout everything they promised when i was hired. Im a little discouraged and stumped over what to do.
