non traditional music
As I was listening to Christmas music today, I was remembering my favorite non-traditional Christmas song.
I absolutely love Breath of Heaven by Amy Grant. It is beautiful, and has a wonderful haunting tune from the point of view of Mary, the mother of Jesus.
If you’d like to download it, I have it up: Breath of Heaven. Its a large download (6.28MB), but beautiful if you would like to hear it.
I have traveled
Many moonless nights
Cold and weary
With a babe inside
And I wonder
What I’ve done
Holy Father
You have come
Chosen me now
To carry your son
I am waiting
in a silent prayer
I am frightened
by the load I bear
In a world as cold as stone
Must I walk this path alone
Be with me now
Be with me now
-----------------------------
CHORUS
Breath of Heaven
Hold me together
Be forever near me
Breath of Heaven
Breath of Heaven
Light in my darkness
Pour over me your holiness
For your holy Breath of Heaven
------------------------------
Do you wonder
As you watch my face
If a wiser one
Should have had my place
But I offer all I am
For the mercy of your plan
Help me be strong
Help me be
Help me
CHORUS

I love that Christmas CD. My favorite song on it is, "Grown-Up Christmas List." So simple. It reminds me of what Christmas should always be like.

What an awesome song. I have a CD by Vince Gill and he sings this song and I feel in love with it!! Thank you for the words. I am a big fan of Amy Grant too, but didn’t know she has done this. I love your site. Would love to add you to my daily reads if it’s ok.. God Bless.

i sing this song every year in church. i love it so, so much. sometimes i can’t get through it without crying. yay yay for what christmas really means, because so often people forget WHY we even have christmas, why we even have our lives and why we even have forgiveness. God sent His Son to die for us and so we celebrate his birth. okay, i’ll stop babbling now, but i wanted you to know that it makes me happy that you love that song so much.

Yeah, that is totally an awesome song.....our church had its very popular Christmas Concert again, and this year they put out a CD with this song on it, sung by the church’s own choir and accompanied by the church’s own orchestra!
I keep playing that song all the time!
