double pings
I’ve had a couple people mention to me that blog is getting multiple pings on posts because the URL is staying in the URLs to ping box. I’ve gone through and tweaked my index templates to hopefully make the time to rebuild be less, and that *should* help with this issue. But I do have a lot of indexes! The weird thing is that theredkitchen has even more, and it doesn’t choke. So I’m not sure what’s going on.
I posted about this on the forums back in August, and if you’d like to read Ben’s explaination of how it works, go over to Multiple pings received, URL staying in URLs to Ping after post. He also says that the timeout setting in the mt.cfg file can be increased if people are having a lot of problems with pings timing out on them.

Thanks for that information. I’ve just been blaming it all on my hosting company. I’m sure it’s still partly their fault somehow. ;)
