domain extensions

Really interesting news that Marie pointed out this evening -

Via C|Net News.com, ICANN will be soliciting proposals for three new top level Internet domains.

How many extensions have they added now? I mean, besides country ones? I know .com, .net, and .org. Then there’s .nu and .us I think. And when I look at Godaddy, they allow for registration of .info, .biz, and .ws.

Marie suggests .law, .med, and .blog. I think .web might be nice. Maybe on a spin-off of her idea of .blog, I’d rather see .log smile That would be a bit more friendly to journals and weblogs and diaries. What do you think?
