being your mother....
I just had to copy this from Jenni because I really need to hear this every once in a while....
YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BE YOUR MOTHER unless she is who you want to be. You do not have to be your mother’s mother, or your mother’s mother’s mother or even your grandmother’s mother on your father’s side. You may inherit their chins or their hips or their eyes, but you are not destined to become the women who came before you, you are not destined to live their lives. So if you inherit something, inherit their strength. If you inherit something, inherit their resilience. Because the only person you are destined to become is the person YOU DECIDE to be.
Wow.
I really like that because I don’t want to be my mother. No way, no how. I see myself doing a few things like her, and I don’t want to. Maybe someday I’ll accept her more, but our personalities have some several clashes - I must have consistancy, and she seems to almost have multiple personalities. Those two things don’t mesh very well, and never have.
So reminding myself that I don’t have to turn into her is a very good thing Thanks, Jenni

You’re most welcome! I remember reading that thing over and over again a few years ago. It seems silly, but was really important to me at the time. I’m glad so many other people are enjoying it. *hugs*
