bday 35 playlist

Following in the footsteps of my last few birthdays, I put together a playlist to play on my birthday extravaganza – fancy way of saying “out-for-the-day-with-E” 🙂

I divided them up into the original list and then the extras I didn’t make it to, with definitions of why each was included. WHAT FUN! I did get to use an iTunes gift card from Christmas, and had a pretty huge wishlist on iTunes waiting for me… I also had the added enhancement of @astoldbyjen (as told by jen) Glee tracks 🙂

I hope you find some music inspiration in my choices!

this song makes me happy, plus, “happy” birthday.
3. Umbrella/Singin’ in the Rain (Glee Cast Version) Gwyneth Paltrow/Matt Morrison According to Jen: Glee: The Music – Season 2, Vol 3 2010

4. Ignorance Paramore Brand New Eyes 2009
a new paramore track i didn’t have.

one of my fav twilight songs, this album introduced me to Muse and Paramore and more.
6. Fireflies Owl City Ocean Eyes 2010
i first really heard this at Craig and Krista’s wedding weekend. pretty
7. Remembering Sunday All Time Low So Wrong, It’s Right (Bonus Track Version) 2007
recommended for me from iTunes – lead singer is Juliet Simms of Automatic Loveletter. AL was introduced to me by @astoldbyjen. very nice mix of voices, and pretty guitar.
8. Journeyman (Main Title Theme) Amanda Ghost & The Rural Journeyman (Theme Song from “Journeyman”) – Single 2007
song one of journeyman trilogy, for obvious reasons
9. Lucky Man The Verve Urban Hymns 1997
song two of journeyman trilogy, this song was on one of the last eps and was so perfect.
10. How We Operate Grey’s Anatomy Cast Grey’s Anatomy: The Music Event 2011
song three of the journeyman trilogy, this is journeyman aka kevin mckidd aka dr. owen hunt – singing for the special musical episode. i loved this song, but i love the journeyman version even more.
11. I’d Rather Be With You Joshua Radin Simple Times 2008
i can’t remember how i heard of this, it may be another one iTunes recommended to me. i see (wikipedia) he’s had songs on Eli Stone, Bones, Grey’s Anatomy, House, and Leverage! i wrote “e” next to this song because i knew he’d like. and the lyrics are adorable.
12. Rolling In the Deep ADELE 21 2011
heard first on the I Am Number Four previews, and then heard @astoldbyjen talking about Adele. had to have it, it rocks.
13. I Remain Alanis Morissette Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time (Soundtrack from the Motion Picture) 2010
from the end credits. alanis remains one of my favorite “specific memory” people, Uninvited from City of Angels soundtrack has a very specific memory for me as well.
14. Losing Sleep Charlotte Sometimes Waves and the Both of Us (Bonus Track Version) 2008
another iTunes rec. it really called to me!

i have several The Fray tracks, the obvious suspects from the radio and Grey’s. i was hesitant to get another since e was less excited about the others, but this one was really good.
16. Hello Seattle Owl City Of June 2007
e found more Owl City, and this one is so tinkley and sweet and it’s about Seattle so that makes it even better, yay washington!
17. If Everyone Cared Nickelback All the Right Reasons 2007
probably my favorite non-screaming-voiced Nickelback song. first time i heard it, i thought it was a christian song from the words!
18. Rumour Has It Adele Rumour Has It – Single 2011
not as good, IMO, as the other track, but this one was a starbucks freebee, and it’s still nice.

21. Landslide (Glee Cast Version) Gwyneth Paltrow/Naya Rivera/Heather Morris According to Jen: Glee: The Music – Season 2, Vol 4 2011
fabulous song, and the scene from this glee ep goes through my head every time i hear it and it tugs at my heart. liked this song a lot from the Dixie Chicks back in the day.
22. Again Flyleaf Memento Mori (Expanded Version) 2009
Flyleaf has a Christian background. but i heard of my first track “All Around Me” from a General Hospital commercial. this is from their newer album… the lyrics are powerful. but also fab rockyness!
23. We’ll Never Know Lifehouse Lifehouse 2005
i have no idea why i found this and bought it now. it’s from 2005! i have no other Lifehouse, although some are familiar!
24. River Deep, Mountain High (Glee Cast Version) Amber Riley/Naya Rivera According to Jen: Glee: The Music – Season 2, Vol 2 2010
fabulous way of using these two artists voices together. never had heard the song before and so it was pretty fabulous to be new-to-me.
25. Forget You (Glee Cast Version) Gwyneth Paltrow/Kevin McHale/Amber Riley According to Jen: Glee: The Music – Season 2, Vol 3 2010
obviously, Gwyneth’s voice really catches me, they gave her some fab songs on the shoe, and this one is quite fun.
26. (Do You Wanna Date My) Avatar (feat. Felicia Day) The Guild (Do You Wanna Date My) Avatar (feat. Felicia Day) – Single 2009
