Book one in the Velvet Series by Jude Deveraux.
The eldest of 4 brothers, Gavin, is in love with Alice Valence. She's not a very nice woman, and manipulates situations to get her way. She worked out a marriage with Edmund Chatworth. Gavin gets set up in an arranged marriage with Judith, a woman used to running her father's estate.
This book was a great start to the series (#1 of 4). Gavin is the oldest brother, but he's also taken on the responsiblity of raising the 3 younger brothers from the time he was 16. So he feels a great deal of responsibilty for not only them, but for managing everything around them. Judith is such a strong woman, and Gavin is such a strong man, and melding them together brings along quite a few challenges. I particularly enjoyed the fact that she had to rescue him from Alice Valence's castle. We get a quick glipse of the other brothers in this book, and little hints towards the next books; but it is definitely clear that the brothers care more about each other than anything else in the world.
