thoughts for matthew
I know I’ve asked this before, but if you would send some good thoughts in my little brothers way, I’d appreciate it.
He ran away from home again, and this time, didn’t eat for a day beforehand and then let his insulin get too hot so it stopped working. The boys he was with had an accident and rolled the car, and Matthew got caught because he was so sick from his blood sugar being low that he couldn’t run like the other 3 did. He was in the hospital, and once he was stable, they were moving him to LA juvinile detention facility. Because there was a warrent out for his arrest (he broke house arrest and crossed state lines, among other offenses this week), he will have to come back in whatever transport the CA sheriffs and our county police deem necessary. Because he’s a flight risk, they couldn’t just put him on a train or something. And then when he gets back, he’s for sure going back to juvie for at least 21 days (drug and alcohol rehab will probably start once he gets back to our county; same for psychological profiling, which they haven’t tried before now) and probably longer. It will be a really long while before he’s free.
Its so stupid, because he was in for like 2-3 weeks, and as soon as he got out, Dad brought him to school. He only went to two classes, and then skipped right away. He knew that was one of the requirements for being on house arrest; he had to go to every class. But did he? No, he didn’t even try.
So all I can do is pray that he’s safe. I know I’ll breathe easier when he’s back here, because I can’t imagine that LA detention centers are a very safe place. I hope that this time around, they can get him the help that he needs, and make it really stick this time, even if it takes a long stay in juvie for that to happen.
