this or that money
This-or-That Tuesday: The money edition!
Even though I get a reminder every week, I have been known to forget to do the questions! :giggle: But today was about money, and I just saw the reminder email in my box again, so here I am participating! Thank you, Christine
- File taxes as early as possible, or wait until the last possible minute? Complete them early, but pay at last minute.
- File electronically, or mail paper forms? electronically, baby!
- Prepare your own taxes, or have someone do it for you? c'mon, I’m a business major... I do mine and my siblings even!
- Are you a saver or a spender? Saver, for the most part.
- Do you prefer to carry cash, or pay with plastic (credit/debit cards), or by check? Even though I like to have cash with me in case, I try to do everything with my debit card, because then I have record of the transaction that I can download from the bank and categorize my expenses in Money!
- You’re broke and desperately need a job, but the only places that are hiring are retail or fast food places. Which would you pick? Neither are places that thrill me. I’d rather take a low paying secretarial job, even though I’m overqualified.
- Keeping track of your money: are you more meticulous or careless about it? Meticulous. I download my transactions at least a few times a week, and categorize the expenses. I tend to be a bit too careless with the bills at time, and have gotten late fees periodically because of that. But when it comes down to it, I’m a predictable record-keeper.
- What do you do if you find yourself with a lot of change weighing down your purse/pocket/wallet? Do you try to spend it to *get rid of it*, or do you put it in a jar or a piggy bank? We have an old plastic juice pitcher that is almost full of change; we put all the change there. I’m not sure what we’ll do when it gets full!
- Which form of fake money do you like better...Monopoly money or those chocolate coins covered with gold foil? Monopoly money, because its all colorful
I couldn’t hold onto the chocolate coins without eating them all ;)
- Thought-provoking question of the week: You find a wallet containing $5,000 in cash, as well as several credit cards and the owner’s drivers' license. Your rent is due tomorrow and you’re short $200. Do you take the money (some or all of it) and mail back the wallet anonymously...or do you return the wallet with all contents intact? I have too much of a conscience; I’d be very guilty for a very long time if I took the money. I think I’d sooner explain to my landlord that they’d have to wait a few more days and find someone to borrow from.
