this or that money

This-or-That Tuesday: The money edition!

Even though I get a reminder every week, I have been known to forget to do the questions! :giggle: But today was about money, and I just saw the reminder email in my box again, so here I am participating! Thank you, Christine smile

  1. File taxes as early as possible, or wait until the last possible minute? Complete them early, but pay at last minute.
  2. File electronically, or mail paper forms? electronically, baby!
  3. Prepare your own taxes, or have someone do it for you? c'mon, I’m a business major... I do mine and my siblings even!
  4. Are you a saver or a spender? Saver, for the most part.
  5. Do you prefer to carry cash, or pay with plastic (credit/debit cards), or by check? Even though I like to have cash with me in case, I try to do everything with my debit card, because then I have record of the transaction that I can download from the bank and categorize my expenses in Money!
  6. You’re broke and desperately need a job, but the only places that are hiring are retail or fast food places. Which would you pick? Neither are places that thrill me. I’d rather take a low paying secretarial job, even though I’m overqualified.
  7. Keeping track of your money: are you more meticulous or careless about it? Meticulous. I download my transactions at least a few times a week, and categorize the expenses. I tend to be a bit too careless with the bills at time, and have gotten late fees periodically because of that. But when it comes down to it, I’m a predictable record-keeper.
  8. What do you do if you find yourself with a lot of change weighing down your purse/pocket/wallet? Do you try to spend it to *get rid of it*, or do you put it in a jar or a piggy bank? We have an old plastic juice pitcher that is almost full of change; we put all the change there. I’m not sure what we’ll do when it gets full!
  9. Which form of fake money do you like better...Monopoly money or those chocolate coins covered with gold foil? Monopoly money, because its all colorful rainbow I couldn’t hold onto the chocolate coins without eating them all ;)
  10. Thought-provoking question of the week: You find a wallet containing $5,000 in cash, as well as several credit cards and the owner’s drivers' license. Your rent is due tomorrow and you’re short $200. Do you take the money (some or all of it) and mail back the wallet anonymously...or do you return the wallet with all contents intact? I have too much of a conscience; I’d be very guilty for a very long time if I took the money. I think I’d sooner explain to my landlord that they’d have to wait a few more days and find someone to borrow from.
