Scientific American: Sleep Lets Brain File Memories
To sleep, perchance to file? Findings published online this week by the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences further support the theory that the brain organizes and stows memories formed during the day while the rest of the body is catching zzz’s.
And that would explain why short-term memories are harder for PWC—because sleeping patterns are so interupted. Makes perfect sense.
Yes, I’m awake at 4AM. I did double my dose of ambien last night because I *really* needed more sleep after Monday night’s crappy sleep. But I still woke up at 3:30 to pee and knew I couldn’t go straight back to sleep. Hmph. But I know I slept better until 3:30, and hopefully 4:30-9:30 will be good too :giggle:
